Our objective is to gather together and share our knowledge with one another regarding what we are doing to help others and to expand our knowledge of what we can do to make a difference in this world.

When we ask ourselves the question, 'What can I do to make a difference?' we must first begin by challenging ourselves to really look at our lives and be open and willing to making changes. This is not a daunting, unattainable task. We can start simply by making a concerted effort to recycle more, to not let the water run while brushing our teeth or shutting off electrical fixtures when not being used.

Small steps will not be taken for granted here. Do not feel afraid that you won't be able to 'do' anything to create change, because by belonging to this group you already are making a difference, recognizing that you too are concerned with what is happening in the world, in this country, in our own back yards.

This can be as simple as becoming an on-line activist, donating used cell phones instead of having them take up more space in a landfill, buying recycled ink for your printer or rallying to save the Arctic Refuge from drilling for oil in it's pristine beauty by sending emails to those responsible for these actions.

As more issues arise, the objective of the group will be for us to grow along with them. Suggestions for additional topics will be greatly appreciated. We do not have to stay with the obvious subject matter such as hunger and poverty, but stretch beyond these concerns to include civil rights, fighting racism, animal welfare and more.

Looking at your own talents to see what you can do. We all have talents, however, they don't all have to do with creativity; you can be the best organizer or you may be willing to lobbying on-line for a bill to pass or giving input to the group as individuals share their stories, because we all need a little positive feedback so we know we are on the right track.

We welcome any and all input that will in essence benefit our commitment to making a difference. This group will acknowledge people and organizations that are currently helping to make a difference and, if you know of anyone or an organization that you wish us to recognize, please post your stories for all of us to help us to continue to 'fight the good fight.'
